A bit of Saints News for the Fans...
There is a lot a Saints News this year with all the changes that they have made so far. There will be even changes as the pre-season begins. New Orleans fans want a big year. The fans NEED a big year. You know what? I think the team is going to deliver!
The Saints news reports that
New Orleans
have picked up several new faces this year in Sedrick Ellis, Bobby McCray, Jonathan Vilma, Randall Gay, and David Roach. These players have the potential to create an explosive defense. With Players like Scott Fujita as linebacker, and Jonathan Vilma as an addition, They should be beasts in the lower defensive backfield.
Mike McKenzie at one cornerback spot and possibly move Jason David into a safety position, I think the defensive backfield will be able to cover the deep pass better. There has be a lot of talk about Jason David not qutie cutting it. Well, the fact of the matter is that he is a good player, his downfalls are that he is not quite strong enough and fast enough to keep up with the top recievers in the league, but, at a safety position, he might be able to see the field better and react to the ball quicker. This does, however, mean that someone needs to step into the other cornerback spot and I think Randall Gay is the man. He has experience, but still pretty young and I think he can handle that pressure. He just seems to fit into the Saints style of defense real well.
With new linemen like rookie Sedrick Ellis, and Bobby McCray, to give help to the big men up front in Charles Grant, Hollis Thomas, and Will Smith, it sounds like a defensive front that nobody will be able to get through, along with excellent potential for the pass rush.
New Orleans offense has the weapons that they need. Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, Deuce McCallister, Marques Colston, and the list keeps going on and on. They should be fine as long as they all stay healthy!
The schedule
looks tough, but I think their capabilities are there, they just have to execute.
Come back here in the future to catch more of the Saints news that I will cover through the upcoming season.
Saints News for The Defensive Line...
...is much improved. The team has added Rookie Sedrick Ellis, from USC, to the lineup. All I can say is that this guy looked awsome in the minicamp. He was a huge force and many wondered whether or not it would hold up against the team veterans. Needless to say, he was dominant is college for a reason. He has outstanding talent. As long as he keeps his mind right, he should make a huge impact on the D's performance.
Bobby McCray was picked up as a free agent this year and it looks to be one of the best moves that they have made, in that he looks to be one of the best defensive linemen on the team. He is extremely quick into the backfield and causes alot of problems on the inside (inside problems are good!!).
Will Smith will still probably be a permanent DE for the Saints but it is possible that Charles Grant might be moved down to the tackle position on many plays to add more speed inside and out.
Reggie Bush... Ready to see the superstar
Don't get me wrong, Reggie Bush is a awsome team player, and totally unselfish in that it does seem as if the team gets the win, he is content, no matter what his stats say. That's all good, and I believe he does have his priorities straight but I know the fans of New Orleans are still waiting for him to explode and dominate like he did in college.
Reggie did say that he spent his first and second off-seasons training in California, in his hometown, and that he was young, with plenty of money and thought certain things did get to him and kind of lost focus of what he loved more. That has happened to many people and the fact that he realizes it does make him stand out above many others.
Bush is spending this off-season in New Orleans, and training harder, and says he is going to recapture what he lost sight of and is confident that he will more than deliver this year. He will be in the Saints News many times this year.
This year, the fans expectations are high, and you know what? I think Reggie has already contribute to the team in so many ways, but if he does what he seems to think he can, then I believe him, I think he can and I am confident he will put on the show of his career, in his third season, then it only gets better after that! Good Luck Reggie!
