New Orleans Jazz …
It makes you want to get up and dance

New Orleans Jazz is a little different than what you may expect. New Orleans style jazz music is more for dancing, rather than listening. Take any of you old time favorite rock and roll songs, and one of the many jazz bands from New Orleans can “Jazz it up” to where you can’t help but get up and dance!

Below I have included a video of New Orleans street musicians. Notice how they can set up in the road and just start playing. Downtown, in the French Quarter, the city will shut down Bourbon Street to traffic, in the evenings, because the roads are so narrow, and there are a lot of tourists that want to see the sights of the French Quarter. Normally, bands tend to set up on the sidewalk and play, therefore, this was after the hours that the city had closed the road.

This video is to show you how much the city takes their “Jazz” serious. These are street musicians, and they are awesome!

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

With the likes of Jimmy Buffet and Tim McGraw, the 2008 “Jazz Fest” was one of the greatest of all times. Obviously, as most should know, Buffet and McGraw are not jazz musicians. That is not what the jazz fest is all about. At the Jazz fest, many different kinds of Louisiana music are offered like country, rock and roll, pop, blues, rap, R&B, Cajun zydeco, and much more. It's true music of the swamplands. jazz player silhouette However, it is a jazz fest, so there will be lots of jazz music all around including modern and contemporary.

South Louisiana cuisine, arts and craft booths, and all the music you can dance to. That is what it is all about. Local restaurants, craftsmen, and musicians gather to display, and sell what they have to offer.

There is one fee to enter the fairgrounds, that changes every year, but once you get in, you are not required to buy anything, and can enjoy
