The Hornets are here to Stay... YOU should see them play
The Hornets played out of New Orleans and Oklahoma City in 2007.
They didn't have such a great season. After seeing the
Saints
have
such success and fan support, in 2008 the Hornets were located
solely in
New Orleans.
Despite the awsome play of the team, the fans just weren't showing
up to all of the games. The team owner, George Shinn, proposed
that if they could keep an average of around 14,000 fans per game,
then they would keep New Orleans as their home. The fans stepped
up.
The team ended their regular season with a record of 56-26. The
city also hosted the All-Star events at the New Orleans arena
with coach Byron Scott, and his staff, coaching the All-Star game.
Two players from New Orleans, David West #30 & Chris Paul #3,
were selected to play for the All-Star team.
Once the made the playoffs, the Hornets beat the Dallas Mavericks, in the
first round 4-1, but then fell to the defending champs, San
Antonio Spurs, in Game 7 of the second round. Even though the
team didn't make it to the finals, they did however, make it
farther than ever before, and gained alot of experiene for the
future, and alot of respect from the rest of the country that
always thought that New Orleans was too young to handle the pressure.
The team had a great season and will always be remembered for
the accomplishments that they achieved so quickly. The fans have,
and will continue to "fan up."
2008-2009 Hornets Schedule here!
I made a few games this season. One of which was Game 1 of the
second round against the Spurs and let me tell you... if you have
never been to a NBA game, ecspecially a New Orleans game, GO!!!
Tickets are not too expensive, and the atmosphere and energy in
the building will have you on your feet in no time. It is an
experience like none other.
I have watched many NBA games, and in my opinion, the NBA is filled
with players that are a little selfish. Don't get me wrong, there
are many superstars in the Pros, but it doesn't seem like, at times,
that it is a team game and that you are more watching one player
than two teams.
New Orleans is totally different. Led by all-star, Chris Paul,
the team is exactly that, a TEAM. CP3 would be just as contempt
with the assist, than scoring himself, just as long as they get
the points.
David West can shoot the lights out of the building, but he is also
an awsome interior passer. With players under the goal, like
Tyson Chandler, that can finish an alley oop from just about anywhere,
I guess most could be good passers.
Many people thought that once Peja Stojakovich got hurt, he would
not recover and be what he once was. I think Peja's shooting
quieted those thoughts. He was a great passer, perimeter shooter,
off the dribble, I think he's got a few more years in him.
Like I said, if you haven't been to a New Orleans Game.... GOOO!!
I promise, you will have an awsome experience.
